For the past 10 years, Colo Atl has held its Service Organization Controls (SOC) Type II certification. During that time, we’ve made improvements to the facility to better serve our customers. We also recently successfully completed the SOC 1 Type II certification process once again, earning our facility the honor of being recertified.
What is an SOC 1 Type II Certification?
An SOC 1 Type II certification contains all the elements of an SOC Type I certification, which includes information on how you perform critical risk assessment procedures and whether you can achieve certain objectives on a given date, however a Type 2 certification brings in more rigorous testing. During the Type II certification process, an external audit firm examines whether a facility can achieve certain objectives over the course of several months. The SOC 1 Type II certification process provides a more thorough look at how the facility and its entire staff performs.
What the Type II Certification Means for Our Customers
Colo Atl’s goal is to provide highly secure carrier-neutral colocation, data center and interconnection services in a state-of-the-art facility. Maintaining our SOC 1 Type II certification status is one way we can stand behind that commitment, therefore the rigorous examination process is one that we deem necessary.
After months of careful examination and consideration, the external audit firm that examined our facility issued a report stating:
“Colo Atl had reasonable internal controls and processes in place around physical security, logical access and environmental monitoring.”
The report demonstrates that Colo Atl customers are properly mitigating risks and ensuring that their data is highly secure.
We’re proud to work with each of our customers to provide them with the connectivity services they need in a secure environment! To learn more about our facility, visit our facilities page.
